How We Maintain A Sterile Area

First of all we create a sterile feild. We disinfect before and after every client with Sanitex Plus. We install sterile barriers on every object that may be touched during the tattoo process. We also change gloves anytime we may need to breach those barriers. We prep the skin area with antiseptic prior to tattooing and after any breaks. We use as many single use products as are available including tattoo needles, gloves, ink caps, clip cord covers, bottle bags, seat covers, handle bags, machine bags, individual bottled water, ointment pouches, cups and much more. Any tool or product that is not a single use goes through a careful and lenghty sterilization procedure. Starting with rinsing and scrubbing in a foot controlled sink. Then put in an ultrasonic cleaner with Alconox. Rinsed again and placed in Glutaraldehyde for a ten hour minimum resting period. Then rinsed, dried and placed in prelabelled sterilization pouches. We then finish our process in our newest technology steam autoclave. Our autoclave goes through monthly third party testing to ensure it is working to its fullest potential. Our sterilization room is separated from everything else and disinfected daily with Sanitex Plus.

Who We Are

Mark Duhan:                                                    Born and rasied right here in New Milford. I have been involved in art as long as I can remember. I fell in love with tattooing many years ago. I am known for my perfect lines, vibrant colors and deep 3-dimensional black & greys. I take on every new tattoo with a "this one will be my best yet" attitude. I never let any client feel rushed or less important than another client. I naturally have a newer school artistic style using varying line weights and multiple light sources. I also enjoy drawing my own scripts and lettering. I thrive on designing one of a kind tattoos working with the client. I have tons of flash art but it is used just as a reference. Noone wants to bump into someone else with the same tattoo. I am certified from both The American Tattooing Institute and The Blood Borne Pathogen Prevention Training Institute. My prices are not cheap because my work isn't. I often devote an entire day or more to a client to acheive their tattooing goal. I am not a "stamp it on and get them out" type of tattoo artist. Please be patient as I often have a waiting list.

I am Tina Kirby, the body piercer at Skin Deep Ink. Originally from the South, I have lived in New England for 7 years.  I have two beautiful daughters ages 5 and 9.  I got my first tattoo one year ago at age 38. Yes, I’m revealing my age but my point is it’s never too late!  Now I have four lovely tattoos all done by Mark and of course I’m planning my next.  Mark and I combined two of our favorite things…..tattoos and clothing and opened Skin Deep Ink in June of 2008 and so far things are going great!  We appreciate the kind welcome we have received from the people of New Milford and look forward to meeting you even if it’s just to drop in and say hello and take a look around. Jeff Ash:                                                                 Born and raised in Connecticut, I spent most of my earlier years in Naugatuck, and the rest of my childhood moving around. I have finally settled in New Milford and am newly engaged and have a beautiful baby girl.  I have been interested in and involved with art as long as I can remember. I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and my passion has been growing ever since! I started as an apprentice when Skin Deep Ink opened in June and am now taking on my own clients. I pay great attention to detail, and learning from Mark, have developed great line work. I enjoy mixing and blending colors although most of my work thus far has been black and grey.
